GOAL
The GOAL program is an accelerated alternative education program that provides comprehensive services for students needing a non-traditional learning environment. GOAL allows students to recoup credits from a previously failed semester, earn new credits toward a high school diploma and/or participate in instruction that will ultimately prepare them to complete the GED.
To be considered for the GOAL program students must be at least 16 years old or in their second semester of the sophomore year of high school and reading at least at the 6th grade level.
A student enrolled in the GOAL program typically is expecting a child or is already a teen parent, has family obligations that prevents him/her from attending school during the day, has a medical condition that prevents a full-day schedule, does not function successfully in a traditional school setting, is emancipated, married or has to work but is school age, has dropped out or demonstrates a lack of interest in completing school, has grades well below projected levels and/or is frequently late or has excessive absences.
