Participants will review, construct and practice using a variety of manipulative materials for teaching fractions, decimals, geometry and algebra. Tools for fractions will include fraction strips, fraction squares and fraction circles. Decimals tools will include base ten strips, hundreds squares, meter sticks/number lines, and calculators. Tools for geometry will include geo-boards, dot paper, polydron frameworks, power solids, safety compasses, and swing bar protractors. Algebra tools will include math balances, algebra tiles, algebra blocks and algebra lab gear. Demonstrations of tools using virtual math manipulatives and related software will also be demonstrated. Note: Participants should bring scissors for making math manipulatives.
