ESCCO Online Training

Highly Qualified Teacher for Intervention Specialists
HQT Details
The Ohio Department of Education and the Educational ServiceCenter of Central Ohio are offering a professional development opportunity to train regional or local facilitators to deliver a program for special education intervention specialists in grades 7-12, to meet the HQT requirements of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA).

This program will provide teachers a flexible, convenient opportunity to accumulate the required 45 hours of training in the content areas assessed on the Ohio Graduation Test (writing, reading, mathematics, science or social studies).

Violence Prevention and Safety
The requirements for professional staff members to take in-service child abuse detection training in Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 3319.073 were expanded with the signing of Amended Ohio House Bill 276 on March 30, 2007.  In addition to child abuse detection, the four hours of in-service training now required must also cover the prevention of violence and substance abuse and the promotion of positive youth development.

To help educators meet this requirement, the ESC of Central Ohio is offering an online training in Safety and Violence Prevention which includes all four areas:  Child Abuse Prevention, Prevention of Violence, Substance Abuse and Promotion of Positive Youth Development.

Bloodborne Pathogen Training
This training module has been created to provide ESCCO employees a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens, common modes of their transmission, methods of prevention, emergency procedures, and other pertinent information.

This program has been developed in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) Bloodborne Pathogen Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, and a copy of this standard can be obtained at www.osha.gov . The standard applies to all employees who have occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).
