Introduction to Formative Assessment

Noted experts Katy Bainbridge and Bob Holman, loved for their level of engagement and practical strategies that teachers can begin utilizing immediately will lead a two-day training focused on "Why does formative assessment (FA) matter?"

Participants will be engaged with the following learning targets:

I can:

  1. Describe the fundamental difference between formative and summative assessment;
  2. Explain how FA can be used to gather accurate data about student learning;
  3. Discuss the strategies of FA;
  4. Discuss the general research supporting effects of FA on student motivation and achievement;
  5. Convert ODE content language and turn them into student-friendly learning targets;
  6. Select the appropriate assessment method to match the learning targets;
  7. Explain the difference between descriptive and evaluative feedback;
  8. Identify the principles to sound grading practices

One semester hour of Ashland Graduate credit will be offered for $199
