What is the difference between HQT for gifted and GIS (Gifted Intervention Specialist) endorsement?

Gifted endorsement is approved and awarded by the ODE Office of Educator Licensure. Gifted Endorsement is applied to a current Ohio teaching license and the program of study and courses required are offered through universities.

HQT is approved and awarded by your local LPDC.  HQT status requires 90 hours of professional development:  45 hours in pedagogy and 45 hours of a content or grade level focus.

This online class provides 45 hours of pedagogy toward HQT for gifted education.

This on line class does NOT fulfill requirements for gifted endorsement or licensure.
